1) Volunteer video editor (5–10 hrs/week)

Purpose: Produce compelling video content that supports campaigns, explains key ideas and highlights events/spokespersons

Basic terms of reference

  • Edit short-form videos (15–90s) for social platforms, including captions and basic motion graphics.
  • Edit occasional longer pieces (interviews, talks, explainers, event footage).
  • Create reusable templates (intro/outro, lower thirds and caption styles) aligned with our brand.
  • Manage raw footage, drafts, versioning and delivery timelines.
  • Ensure accessibility and clarity (captions, pacing and audio levelling).

Skills and requirements

  • Proficiency with video software.
  • A track record of producing videos.
  • Comfortable iterating quickly from feedback.

2) Volunteer grant prospecting researcher (1–2 hrs/week)

Purpose: Research foundations and other funders to build a pipeline of grant opportunities aligned with PauseAI’s mission in AI safety, technology policy, and civic advocacy.

Basic terms of reference

  • Search grant databases (Candid, Instrumentl, GrantFinder, etc) for relevant opportunities.
  • Evaluate funders for mission fit, eligibility, grant size, and deadlines.
  • Maintain a shared grant tracker and summarise funder priorities.
  • Flag high-priority opportunities with sufficient lead time.

Skills and requirements

  • Detail-oriented and self-directed with strong research skills and interest in AI safety.
  • Prior fundraising or nonprofit experience is a plus, but willingness to learn grant databases is enough to start.
  • Direct mission impact, fundraising experience in the AI safety space, and a reference letter available on request.

3) Volunteer onboarding coordinator (2–3 hrs/week)

Purpose: Welcome new members and guide their engagement to the existing opportunities available.

Basic terms of reference

  • Welcome new members and support short intro calls to orient them.
  • Match members to teams or tasks based on their skills and interests.
  • Maintain onboarding materials (welcome guide, FAQs, getting-started checklist).
  • Follow up with new members and track their progress into active roles.
  • Gather feedback to improve the onboarding experience.
  • Track volunteer growth metrics using PauseAI Global reports.

Skills and requirements

  • Warm, clear communicator comfortable initiating conversations with new people.
  • Organised and reliable at following up with many people in parallel.
  • Able to quickly familiarise themselves with the organisation’s mission and structure.
  • Available for monthly onboarding team meetings.
